Organic Maca Powder
Organic Maca Powder is derived from a root, the Maca Root. This root belongs to the radish family. Maca can be purchased in tablet-form, capsules and in slices, however maca powder is the most commonly available form. Since organic maca powder grows in the mountains of Peru, it has also been called “Peruvian ginseng”. The people in Peru have been using maca powder for over 2000 years for endurance, energy and hormonal balance.
The legend goes that it was taken by Inca warriors before going into battle to increase their strength and stamina.
Most of the time people will add Maca powder in smoothies, salads, drinks, cooked foods, and juices. We recommend to not add it to anything that’s very hot because, since it will lose all its benefits. Like almost every (super)food the taste can be a bit odd at first. However, after a few tries it will definitely get more tolerable and it depends on what you mix it with. The best way to describe its flavor is to compare it with toasted oats. If you cannot get used to the taste, but would like to continue with maca, we suggest to take capsules as an alternative.
