Organic Lucuma Powder
Organic Lucuma Powder – also known as the Gold of the Incas – is made from the subtropical lucuma fruit. Lucuma grows on the Lucuma Tree (Pouteria Lucuma), which is native to Peru, Chile and Equador. The tree grows best in a cool weather, is drought-resistant and can grow 25 to 50 feet tall. The fruit has a yellowish green color and has the shape of an egg. Therefore Lucuma is also called eggfruit in some places. The Spanish prefer to call it Lucmo and the taste can be described as maple or caramel to pumpkin-like.
The fruit has been dried at low temperatures and is milled into a fine powder. In the Ancient Peruvian standards, Lucuma was seen as a symbol of fertility and creation. The worshipping of this superfood is still noticeable in everyday life, since over 26 villages in Peru are named after this superfood.
Organic Lucuma Powder is a low-glycemic sweetener which contains several nutrients. Among these nutrients are: iron, zinc, vitamin B3 and protein.
