Organic Chia Seeds
Organic Chia seeds are the seeds from the Salvia Hispanica plant. The Salvia Hispanica plant is a type of sage in the mint family and chia is grown commercially for its seed.
Organic Chia seeds can be eaten raw, however grinding chia is also a well known way of consumption. They are very easy to digest so therefore it is not necessary to grind organic chia seeds to digest them. Chia seeds are a great source of different vitamins and minerals. It contains a lot of dietary fibre and omega-3 fatty acids.
Most of the time chia seeds are consumed with water. You’ll first need to let them soak in water for about 10 – 15 minutes or so. The soaked seeds are gelatinous and easy to drink. Furthermore, they are almost tasteless which makes it easy to consume for almost anyone. In Mexico they use to soak the seeds in fruit juice and it is known as “Chia Fresca”. Ground chia is used in baked goods including breads, cakes and biscuits.
